Today’s B2B buyers are more discerning about whom they do business with. A 2020 survey by Accenture found that 61 percent of B2B buyers were more likely to buy from a company with a clear commitment to sustainability, while 53 percent said that they have reduced or discontinued their relationships with suppliers that do not prioritize sustainability.
 
If your customers are prioritizing sustainability, they should know that in 2022, Fortinet was named to Dow Jones Sustainability World and North America Indices among the top sustainable companies in the Software industry, and included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2023—the world’s most comprehensive publication on corporate sustainability.
 
While these accolades are nice, actions are what matter. Fortinet recently released its 2022 Sustainability Report, outlining its continued commitment to sustainability. Following are a few highlights from our environmental sustainability initiatives:
 
1. Net-zero commitment
Fortinet signed the Science-based Target Initiative (SBTi) commitment is September 2022, pledging to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by no later than 2050. The company also disclosed its Scope 3 emissions, capturing the 12 relevant categories as defined by the GHG protocol.
 
2. Product energy efficiency
Fortinet improved the power efficiency of its FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW). Launched in 2022, Fortinet’s F-series models consume 66 percent less power on average than the previous generation. This helps customers reduce their electricity bills and greenhouse gas emissions.
 
3. Eco-friendly packaging
In 2022, Fortinet shipped over 500,000 boxes with 100 percent eco-friendly packaging, replacing plastics with biodegradable paper, cardboard or recycled byproducts, and eliminated plastic bags for accessories.
